Youth Department

From The Desk Of The President
Dear Pastors & Youth Leaders,

We bring you greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We are indeed excited about what God is doing in the Central Georgia Jurisdiction Youth Department. We appreciate our Pastor and Jurisdictional Prelate, Bishop Chandler David Owens for his love for young people and his support of the Central Georgia Youth Department.

Goals and Projections for 2008

1. Minister to our youth through programs that will bring them into true relationship with Jesus Christ and the infilling of the Holy Ghost.
2. Help our youth to be well-rounded citizens, who live for the Lord.
3. Develop Regional Coordinators/Directors who will help to facilitate the work of the Youth Department throughout the Districts.
4. Help our churches/Districts appoint and develop youth leaders at their respective levels.

Projected Schedule of Youth Activities for 2008

4th Saturday Meeting - Youth and Youth Leadership Training Classes - We will be asking various Youth Leaders from around the jurisdiction to teach and lead discussions about Youth ministry and issues on the 4th Saturdays. Our goal is to work in concert with the 4th Saturday schedule as well as the Jurisdictional Regions set up by our Bishop and his Administrative staff. Therefore, we will set up Regional Coordinators/Directors who will help us to select individuals who will be good candidates to facilitate on the various 4th Saturdays. We will post the schedule on this website: www.centralgeorgiacogic.com .

June 9th - 13th, 2008 - State AIM. June 13th, Friday Night Youth Service and Youth Fusion Event, Hope Cathedral International Church of God in Christ, Bishop Michael Wilson, Pastor. We want to focus on developing a State Youth T-Shirt, so we will have cohesion in the State. We also can wear them as we participate during the services and Banner March during the International AIM Convention.

June 30th - July 4th, 2008 - International AIM Convention, Detroit Michigan. If you are already planning a trip, or are interested in doing so, please contact us at kwh777@bellsouth.net or 678 314 4045, so we can coordinate a Jurisdictional Trip to International AIM.

July 31st - August 2nd, 2008- Youth Adventure 2008, Rock Eagle 4H Center, Eatonton, GA. We have scheduled our Youth Retreat for three days this time as requested by those who participated in our first retreat. We are trusting God that this will be an outstanding opportunity for Christian growth, fellowship, and fun for our teens and adults alike. Please plan to bring your church and come along for the fun. Due to popular demand by youth and adults to extend the event, and our need for a motor coach bus, we must increase the price to $100.00 per person. Perhaps your local Youth Departments can do fund-raisers and get sponsors to help all children who want to attend. We are inviting all Youth Leaders and parents to bring their Youth Groups for a great event. Again, I have reserved for 75 slots, so feel free to sign up now by sending an email to me at kwh777@bellsouth.net or giving me a call as soon as possible at 678 314 4045. You can begin making payments at anytime to: Central Georgia COGIC Youth Department. P.O. Box 671363, Marietta, GA 30066. ALL MONIES ARE DUE BY JUNE 27th, 2008
